To the current and former members and friends of the Emerald Marketing Association (EMA),
On June 22, 2018, at a formal meeting of the membership and board of the EMA, those present unanimously approved the resolutions of the board of directors to:
- Amend the bylaws of the EMA to approve the distribution of any remaining assets of the EMA to a 501(c)6 nonprofit organization, rather than limiting the distribution to a 501(c)3. The EMA was also classified as a 501(c)6 organization by the IRS.
- Direct the board to dissolve the EMA as an organization.
- Distribute the remaining assets of the EMA to the Eugene Area Chamber of Commerce, a 501(c)6 organization.
It was also directed that the Chamber would be encouraged — but not mandated — to use the funds toward creating opportunities for professional growth of marketing professionals in the local area.
The board wishes to thank those former board members and volunteers who started this organization several years ago, and we wish the Eugene Chamber continued success fostering a positive business community in our area.
